Watching a Funeral Online: Viewing and Replay Help

If you have been sent a link to a funeral live stream, that viewing page is your starting point for following the service online. This guide explains what to do when you open the player, what to check if playback does not work, and how to ask about watching a recording afterwards.

Where do I find the funeral viewing link?

Use the service-specific link supplied by the family or the person organising the funeral. Our website’s general service pages are for booking information; they are not a directory of every family’s viewing links.

If you have not received the link, contact the person who invited you. Give them the service name and date so they can send the right page. Follow any access instructions included with the link.

What happens when I open the viewing page?

The page may show a holding screen before the broadcast begins. Follow the instructions on that page and use the player’s play button if one is displayed. A picture may not appear as soon as you open the link.

If the video is playing without sound, check the player’s mute control as well as your device volume. Some browsers start video without audio. If you are using headphones or an external speaker, check that sound is going to the device you expect.

What if the video stops or will not load?

Check whether your internet connection is working and whether other pages open normally. Try reopening the supplied viewing page. If you received more than one link, use the latest one confirmed by the organiser.

A pause can have different causes, including your device, your connection or the connection used for the broadcast. Follow any notice on the viewing page and use the support contact supplied with the service instructions if the problem continues.

Avoid posting the viewing link or private service details publicly while asking for help. Contact the organiser or the agreed support contact directly.

Can I watch the funeral after the live service?

Ask the family organiser whether a recording will be available and where it can be watched. The timing and length of online access depend on the arrangements for that service. Do not assume the live link will immediately become a replay or remain available indefinitely.

If the family has arranged a downloadable recording, they can confirm how it will be shared. Request their permission before forwarding the recording or publishing any part of it elsewhere.

Is watching online a two-way video call?

A viewing link does not necessarily provide a way to speak during the ceremony or send messages to the people at the venue. Follow the instructions for the service rather than assuming the player has video-call features.

If you want to send condolences or share a memory, contact the family through the route they have chosen. Any online guest book or contribution arrangements should be confirmed with the organiser.
